A Personal Introduction from Sheila Beniams, Non-Executive Director at Time To ACT
I’m delighted to introduce myself as the new Non-Executive Director at Time To ACT. Joining the board of such an innovative organisation is an exciting new step in my career, and I look forward to contributing to the growth and success of this promising business. Time To ACT may be relatively new, but its potential is undeniable and I’m proud to be part of its journey from the very beginning.
For those unfamiliar with my background, I’ve spent over 30 years in roles focused on strategic recruitment, governance and business strategy. After earning my BA (Hons) in Business Studies from Stirling University, I built a career across both the private and public sectors, gaining extensive experience in leading teams and managing complex initiatives. In my most recent role within the Government Recruitment Service, I lead a team overseeing senior civil service recruitment across various government departments. This work, though challenging, has been incredibly rewarding, offering me the opportunity to make a direct impact on the government’s operational efficiency through the placement of strategic leaders.
So, why join Time To ACT now?
For me, the decision was driven by three key factors: timing, mission alignment and opportunity. Time To ACT operates in a space that is central to the future—supporting the energy transition. This is a challenge I care deeply about. The company’s focus on improving the energy supply chain through innovative technology perfectly aligns with my personal values and professional aspirations. I believe in the need for strong leadership, long-term vision and sustainability, all of which are at the core of Time To ACT’s mission.
I also have a deep connection to the North East, where I’ve lived and worked for much of my career. This region is special to me and I’ve always been passionate about supporting its economic growth. Time To ACT is poised to be a key player in driving the local and national energy transition and I am excited to contribute to that effort.
In my previous work with the company, I had the privilege of helping recruit senior-level staff, which gave me a strong understanding of the business and its culture. This insight, along with my experience in governance and operational strategy, will allow me to bring a fresh perspective to the board. I thrive in managing complex projects and working under pressure and I look forward to supporting Time To ACT as it scales up and grows.
The energy sector is evolving rapidly and Time To ACT is uniquely positioned to deliver the agile, tech-driven solutions that the supply chain needs. In my role as Non-Executive Director, I will focus on ensuring strong governance, fostering innovation and aligning our strategic goals with the needs of our stakeholders.
I’m honoured to join Chris Heminway, the executive team and the board at such an exciting time for the company. I’m looking forward to helping Time To ACT achieve its ambitious goals and make a lasting impact in the industry.
Thank you for the warm welcome. I’m thrilled to be part of Time To ACT and look forward to the journey ahead.
