Spotlight on Lead Cooled Nuclear Reactors.

Today we highlight another paper by Majumdar, Borgohain and Kain, published in 2019, entitled ‘Interaction between liquid lead-bismuth eutectic and aluminized Inconel 625 superalloy at 600 and 850°C’

The paper concludes that an aluminide coating showed excellent corrosion resistance against liquid lead at 600°C and the formation of a self-healing protective alumina rich continuous scale on Ni Al layer. Penetration of the Pb-Bi through the aluminide layer was observed at 850°C.
